Over-excavation (overex) is digging below the required subgrade elevation, either intentionally — to remove unsuitable soil and replace it with engineered fill — or accidentally, through poor grade control. Intentional overex is directed by the geotechnical engineer and paid as a quantity; accidental overex must be brought back to grade with compacted structural fill at the contractor's expense, which is why depth documentation matters on every overex area.
Log grade shots, verify elevations, and generate inspector-ready field reports from your phone. No office work required.
